I took some bulbs my mother gave me, I planted them in the fall.

Will you be pink, red or orange, white with a purple face?

Will you be big?  You may be small, I do not know your name at all.

In the spring I see your face coming through the grass, I wonder if it is too cold, how will you ever last?

With each day you grow and grow, the rain gives you a drink.  Your sleepy eyes open up to let us take a peek.

Your leaves are green, your petals red, the dew shines like a diamond on your grassy bed.

One day in my garden I saw a butterfly.

It was sleeping, I don't know why.

And then I saw a toad in the impatiens;

I hope it ate the flies.

And then I got stung by a bee and started to cry.

There's a pathway to my garden, I take it every day...

To see the precious gifts that are waiting there for me.

It's always a surprise, never knowing what I will see...

Roses, pansies, daffodils that were planted so carefully,

Daisies are my favorite, I think that they are the best...

The petals seem to tell the tale, is it true love or is it not,

Putting us to the test.

The tulips greet the morning sun, opening faithfully...

They seem to look up at the sky hoping all the world will see.

The violets are so tiny, as they peek out of the grass...

The deepest purple you will ever see, they seem to last and last.

The grass is so dark, so green against the light blue sky...

The butterflies seem to do a dance as they go flying by.

The pathway to my garden holds so many treasures for me,

With each step I learn to see what earth has given to me.

So come and step into my garden, look ever so carefully,

Take note of every flower... they were planted just by me.
