Here is where you want to begin your garden for the year. Various nurseries provide a wide selection of annuals, perennials and shrubs for you to choose from. Craft vendors provide ornamentation with garden related or handcrafted items. Food vendors provide you with a variety of tasty selections. The traditional Mushroom Sandwiches are available at the Indiana Garden Club Food booth located in the Indoor Food area of the Ice and Recreation center.
Purchase of items from any of the Indiana Garden Club concession areas and support of our vendors benefits the Indiana Garden Club to support Civic, Youth Gardening, Conservation and Environmental Education, and more. J & J Funnel Cakes, operated by Paul and Ilean Wass, makes a donation from their profits to benefit the Indiana Garden Club Civic projects. When you arrive, be sure to stop at the Information area to register for FREE Door prizes. All attendees will receive 1 FREE ticket. Additional tickets may be purchased for $1.00 each.
Not to be missed is the Indiana Garden Club Orphan's Court, located inside at the Expo center's reception area, which is always busy early the first day. These homeless plants are just waiting for you to adopt them. Coming directly from members' gardens, they are ready to be planted immediately and have had the loving care you would expect from a garden club member. Contact us (by early May) if you live in the Indiana area and would like to donate plants or have extra containers. If you have plants already potted & labeled for sale you may contact Claire @ 724-465-4594 to arrange for pickup by an IGC member prior to Thursday, May 15th, 2008.
Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the event. There are added attractions of demonstrations to help you enjoy your garden to the fullest.
Many area educational and environmental groups participate and there are special activities for youth. Although the focus of the educational exhibits may change annually, there will always be something for young and old to experience so bring along your children or grandchildren.
