Updated 8/22/02   PRESS RELEASE - 8/19/02 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS INDIANA GARDEN CLUB
Kristin Ann Williams of Penn Run, a 2002 graduate of Penns Manor High School, and John Timothy Kovalak of Homer City, a 2002 graduate of Homer Center High School, have each been awarded a Julia Pound Scholarship by Indiana Garden Club. The club honored the recipients at the regular monthly meeting on August 19. Kristin is enrolled in the School of Agriculture at Penn State University and is majoring in Horticulture.  John will attend Penn State University at Mt. Alto in the Forestry Department and major in Forestry Technology.
The club established the scholarships to honor the late Julia Pound, a long-time member of the club who served as president of the Garden Club 1947-1949.  They are available to graduates of Indiana County high schools for post-high secondary studies in ecology, horticulture, landscape design, landscape architecture, conservation, botany, forestry, agriculture or earth sciences. Applications are available from the guidance counselors of all the county high schools.
