Children were encouraged to bring their crazy hairdoos to May Mart 2011 in order to receive a black-eyed Susan plant.

'Secret Garden Party'

by Kayla Rose Weiss (7th grade - Indiana Jr High School - 2000)

12 year old Lizzy McGillicuddy had a garden

A vegetable garden to be exact

One with plump red tomatoes

Peppers both hot and sweet alike

There were cucumbers and peas,

Broccoli and corn

And let us not forget the magnificent sunflowers

that stood there towering over the garden

And their smiling, bright, cheerful faces

spreading joy to one and all.

One brisk autumn morning

Lizzy sat outside and was observing her garden

She saw creatures of all kinds beginning to invade her garden

It was then that she realized with a smile

That if you want a party

Plant a garden, and the guests will invite themselves.
